Aberfeldy (my parent's home, and where I come in Scotland to train on the natural whitewater in Grandtully), is full of places to go and things to see, if you're into the right kind of lifestyle. If climbing a munroe or spending the day on a bike isn't your idea of fun, you'd be better finding one of Scotland's beautiful cities to have a look round. I did recently get to go mountain biking with a couple of friends, and we caught a morning that happened to fit in an infrequent slot of stunning sunshine and a cool breeze. These occasional ventures into different sports keep me ticking, because you can love your sport to death - it is so important to keep your mind open and at least watch what kinds of things other athletes get up to!
I also got to spend a whole weekend with my extended family, which is a big deal - not least because I hadn't seen most of them properly in about 7 years! It was amazing, catching up with people who have always been there but always just out of reach, and meeting little people who were too small to remember me the last time I met them! Quality family time like this really made my holiday special, and getting to experience the little seaside town of Scarborough was beautiful, relaxing and full of fresh shellfish (my favourite!).
